Ayurvedic Massage

Massage is an important part of Ayurveda, a health system that is more than five thousand years old. Ayurveda can be translated as the science or art of living. I offer two types of Ayurvedic massages in my practice, the Abhyanga and the Marma massage. Characteristic of these massages are, for example, the use of natural products, in particular healing herbs. This makes Ayurvedic massage not only a wellness, but also a therapeutic treatment.

The Ayurvedic massage is basically a full body massage. They are preceded by the opening of the chakras.

Abhyanga comes from ancient Indian Sanskrit and means 'oil massage'. In ayurveda, we consciously make extensive use of herbal oil that is tailored to your constitution, because one of the objectives is to nourish the body. The long stroking movements over the entire body are also characteristic. The warm oil and long stroking movements make it a profound anti-stress treatment that relieves muscle stiffness and pain. The massage releases waste products and emotional blockages in the tissues and ensures total relaxation.

If you experience a lot of stress, are tired or listless, then the Marma massage is an excellent treatment to strengthen your immune system. Ayurveda counts 108 pressure points in the body, of which the chakras are the most important. These pressure points are called marma points in Ayurveda. Marma points are often located where different tissues, such as bones, blood vessels, muscles and joints come together. They also function as vortexes between the physical, emotional, mental, energetic and spiritual body. You could see each pressure point as an intersection that is part of the major road network. What the ayurveda therapist does is clear the traffic jams at the intersections. Removing blockages ensures that your energy flows better again, making you feel much better in your skin. People who suffer from Long Covid and/or severe fatigue benefit greatly from it.
